Flow Control Devices

Introduction

Hydro Valve Flow Control DeviceFlow control devices control the rate at which stormwater leaves a particular site.
Stormwater is stored in a  storage tank underground. This could be a modular block system, concrete tank, large diameter pipes or a thermoplastic culvert.
An important function of this valve is to control the rate of flow from storm water attenuation tanks when there is heavy rainfall, thus preventing downstream flooding.

Operation

Hydro Valve Flow Control Device OperationThe HYDRO-VALVE controls fluid flow by hydraulic effect without requiring moving parts. At low flow rates, the Hydro-Valve complex design allows water enter through the inlet passing to the the outlet unrestricted. However, at high flow rates water enters through the inlet with enough energy to create a vortex in the chamber. This vortex controls flow to the specified discharge rate.

Installation
  • Hydro Valve Flow Control Device InstallationThe Hydro-Valve unit is attached to the inside of a standard 1200mm (diameter) manhole with six steel anchors (supplied).
  • The outlet invert is marked on the unit for alignment.
  • Available to suit rectangular manholes upon request.
  • The manual by-pass cord is installed vertically (bracket and screws are supplied)
  • Full installation drawings are supplied with Hydro-Valve

 Advantages
  • Hydro Valve GraphReduce storage requirements by up to 30% compared to an orifice plate
  • Self activating and Self Cleaning
  • Customised Specifications
  • Minimal Maintenance
  • No external power source
  • Ease of installation compared with conventional vortex valves
  • The outlet opening is 3-6 times larger than conventional controls
